PTC celebrates its 45th anniversary with Gratitude and a strengthened commitment to Impact, Sustainability and Value

MARCH 8, 2024

Philippine Transmarine Carriers, Inc. (PTC) marked its 45th anniversary last February 19, 2024, with gratitude and, as one PTC Group, reasserted its commitment to creating impact, building sustainability, and creating value.

The occasion marked not only the longevity of PTC's presence in the industry but also its unwavering commitment to excellence, sustainability, and social responsibility. Over the past four and a half decades, PTC has played a pivotal role in shaping the maritime landscape, providing meaningful careers to thousands of global maritime professionals and dedicated service to its clients and partners while maintaining a steadfast commitment to the welfare of its people and the sustainability of the maritime sector.

"Starting out in 1979 as a modest shipping services business, we have grown into one of the world's largest crew management companies, with well over 41,000 crew on board the world's fleet at any one time," said PTC CEO Gerardo Borromeo. "Over this same period, we moved into real estate development, established a critical healthcare platform, entered the fuel distribution business, moved upwards into the aviation industry, enhanced our international professional placements efforts, developed a whole portfolio of financial services, and even extended our interest into food production, among others. Soon enough, we hope to deliver our own contribution to a sustainable future by the launching of a 5 MW solar power farm in the province of Aurora."

A rededication to the mission of PTC

The anniversary celebration started with a thanksgiving mass officiated by PTC Group Spiritual Advisor Fr. Tito Caluag at the National Shrine of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. During his homily, Fr. Caluag urged the members of the PTC Group community to take a moment to discern where the heart of Christ is sending them to fulfill their mission for the kingdom of God. After the mass, PTC co-founder Mrs. Isabelita Salinas also addressed the attendees and shared how the Sacred Heart has always been part of PTC since its founding, guiding the whole group throughout its 45-year history. She also reminded PTC Group personnel how the Sacred Heart has specifically chosen each and every one of them to work with PTC and be part of its mission of moving the world.

After the mass, lunch was served to personnel across the various PTC Group offices. Special 45th-anniversary commemorative pins were also distributed. An awarding ceremony followed for the winners of the “Most Memorable Moments with the PTC Group Photo Contest.” Their winning entries will be featured throughout the year at the Penthouse of First Maritime Place.
