During the 132nd Session of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) Council, Captain Francisco Saavedra Jr., Master of Komaya Shipping's M/T Kingston, along with his dedicated officers and crew, was awarded with a special certificate in recognition of their exceptional bravery at sea. The commendation, as outlined in Resolution A. 1195(33), was given for the crew's heroic efforts in rescuing and assisting 20 persons in distress in the Mediterranean Sea on October 29, 2023.

The Certificate of Commendation, signed by IMO Secretary-General Arsenio Dominguez, honors the remarkable bravery, professionalism, and compassion displayed by Captain Saavedra and his crew during the rescue operation. The panel of judges for the 2024 IMO Honours for Exceptional Bravery at Sea highlighted their actions as exemplary of the spirit and commitment that defines the global maritime community.
