PTC's Education and Training Group gives internship talk at Sisters of Mary School – Boystown

DEC 2, 2022

The Education and Training Group, headed by C/E Alfredo Haboc, QA and Program Director of PHILCAMSAT, and Engr. Marianne Camille Pastolero, Education and Training Officer, visited the Sisters of Mary School – Boystown, in Silang, Cavite. This is in collaboration with the Competency Development Center, headed by C/E Joey Ryan Abengona, Competency Development Manager of PHILCAMSAT.

The visit was made to conduct an orientation for eight sections, comprised of more than 120 students, regarding OJT opportunities for the Grade 11 Senior High School (SHS) students. The Engine Ratings Program will be offered to Sisters of Mary School students who will be graduating Grade 12 this January 2024. The partnership aims to source competent welders and machinists in order to address the shortage of Fitters onboard cargo vessels. The selection process will begin in the last quarter of 2023 and the students will be drafted by the fourth quarter of the same year, with a possible deployment by early 2024.
