C/E Alfredo G. Haboc, PTC’s Head of Education & Training and QA
and Program Director, was tapped by the Commission on Higher
Education (CHED) as a resource person for MARINA’s verification of
the compliance of CHED to the STCW 1978, as amended.

The main purpose of the visit to the CHED Office of Programs and
Standards Development (OPSD)-Maritime Education Section (MES)
is to strengthen the collaboration of initiatives that promote the
enhancement of systems and processes between MARINA and
CHED in the area of maritime education. The results of the
verification will form part of the continual improvement in the
harmonization and alignment of the policies and procedures
common to both CHED and MARINA on maritime education.
