The PTC Group was proudly represented at this year’s Global Maritime Week 2025, held on September 23 in Rotterdam, The Netherlands, by Ms. Karen Avelino, PTC Executive Director of Business Development, Shipping and Senior Vice President of Cruise Operations. Speaking before an international audience of maritime leaders, Ms. Avelino contributed her expertise to the session on “Crew 4.0: Empowering Maritime Talent for a Digital, Decarbonised Future.”

In her talk, Ms. Avelino emphasized that the maritime industry’s transformation cannot be achieved by technology alone. “Today’s seafarers are not just navigating seas. They are navigating decarbonization, digitalization, and disruption. And that means we cannot rely on technology alone, or on legacy systems and outdated thinking. This future has to be powered by people.”

Global Maritime Week 2025 is a high-level, three-day summit organized at a pivotal moment for the world maritime industry. With over 1,000 participants, more than 35 speakers, and representation from over 200 companies, the event served as a dynamic platform for networking, innovation, and dialogue on pressing global maritime challenges.

Through Ms. Avelino’s participation, the PTC Group once again underscored its commitment to advancing the conversation on maritime transformation and to championing the role of seafarers as essential drivers of sustainable and future-ready shipping.
