Fourth Engineer Dodz Miguel Maglasang from Cebu has spent the last decade mastering life at sea. Now, as he rejoins Seaspan, one of the world’s largest independent owners and operators of container ships, through PTC, he’s turning the page to an exciting new chapter in his maritime career.

Dodz first started his journey with Seaspan in November 2017 as a Wiper, where he learned the ropes of shipboard life and honed the discipline that would define his career. His dedication and hard work earned him a promotion to Oiler in 2021. Later, he transferred to Columbia Ship Management, where he continued to excel and was eventually promoted to Fourth Engineer. Now, after years of growth and experience, Dodz is once again sailing under the Seaspan flag—returning to where his journey first began.

Becoming a seafarer wasn’t part of Dodz’s childhood dream. But inspired by his cousin—a Chief Engineer—he pursued Marine Engineering and soon discovered a true passion for the sea. The challenges of his studies shaped his discipline and resilience, qualities that have carried him through ten years of hard work and steady progress onboard.

Dodz’s journey back to Seaspan was made possible through PTC’s Talent Acquisition Group (TAG), whose support and professionalism helped make his transition seamless. He chose Seaspan for its strong reputation for stability and crew support—qualities that give seafarers like him a sense of security in an unpredictable profession.

For Dodz, being a seaman is more than a career—it’s a commitment to his family’s future. His work at sea has allowed him to provide for his loved ones and ensure his child’s education, a source of pride and motivation with every voyage.

As he prepares for his next assignment under Seaspan Philippines and PTC, Dodz looks ahead with gratitude and determination. He’s eager to contribute to Seaspan’s legacy of maritime excellence and uphold the spirit of teamwork that defines the company’s culture.
