Strengthening resilience: PTC RISE partners with San Mateo LGU for DRR education

JULY 4, 2025

As part of its advocacy for disaster preparedness and community resilience, the PTC RISE Program team successfully conducted a Master of Disaster (MOD) Board Game demonstration on June 26, 2025, in San Mateo, Rizal. Led by PTC Talent Acquisition Group Lead Program Officer Josh McCarver and Project Associate Crystal Lopez, the team also made a courtesy visit to Acting Mayor Mary Grace Diaz to discuss a potential collaboration with the Municipal Government of San Mateo on Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) initiatives.

During the visit, the MOD Board Game was introduced as a tool for promoting DRR education, in line with the upcoming National Disaster Resilience Month (NDRM) 2025, with the San Mateo Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) as an active partner.

Following the visit, the team, together with the San Mateo MDRRMO, conducted a live demonstration of the MOD Board Game. Local stakeholders had the opportunity to experience firsthand how the board game can be a fun and effective way to educate residents on disaster preparedness and response.

PTC RISE expresses its heartfelt thanks to the Municipal Government of San Mateo, the San Mateo MDRRMO under the leadership of Mr. Braulio Villanueva, and LDRRMO II Rave Bryan Salvosa for their enthusiastic support of the initiative.
