PTC’s Ms. Karen Avelino, Executive Director of Business Development for Shipping and Senior Vice President of Cruise Operations, and C/E Alfredo Haboc, Senior Adviser for Shipping Education Business, recently represented the Philippine Association of Maritime Training Centers, Inc. (PAMTCI) at the 11th session of the Sub-Committee on Human Element, Training, and Watchkeeping (HTW 11) held at the International Maritime Organization (IMO) Headquarters in London from February 10-14, 2025.

C/E Haboc actively contributed to the working group on Alternative Fuels, collaborating with the Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA) technical team to explore sustainable fuel options for the shipping industry. Meanwhile, Ms. Avelino participated in the Comprehensive Review of the STCW Convention and Code, also working alongside MARINA to ensure that global maritime training and competency standards remain aligned with evolving industry needs.

Their participation highlights the PTC Group’s commitment to advancing maritime education and training, ensuring that the Philippines continues to play a key role in shaping global maritime policies and best practices.
