Mapúa-PTC CMET clinches historic first Overall Championship at the Mapúa MCL Wizard’s Cup 2025

The annual Wizards Week celebration at Mapúa MCL concluded with a spectacular showcase of talent, collegiate team dynamics, and school pride. During Wizards Cup Week, the Mapúa-PTC College of Maritime Education and Training (CMET) Department clinched its first-ever Overall Championship, triumphing in academic, cultural, and sporting competitions against other departments.
Cadet Joshua F. Baña secured the Mr. Mapúa MCL 2025 title in an event that highlighted CMET's remarkable achievements both academically and beyond. Meanwhile, Cadette Michelle Belling, a PTC-CSJ TK Foundation scholar, garnered overwhelming praise as she won first runner-up in the Ms. Mapúa MCL competition and received the I-Core Academy's Choice Award—a testament to her eloquence and grace.
Throughout the week, the college dominated the competition with a series of impressive victories. The Men’s Basketball Team capped off a remarkable 8-0 run, showcasing exceptional skill, determination, and teamwork to bring home the championship trophy. Additionally, Cadet Ian Balila was crowned Table Tennis Champion, and the CMET Baton Relay team secured a first-place finish, further solidifying their outstanding performance.
In the Malayan Duets competition, Cadet Andro Ilarde and Ms. Michelle Billones, CMET’s On-Board Training Coordinator, delivered a moving rendition of "The Prayer" by Andrea Bocelli and Celine Dion, representing both students and faculty. Their seamless harmony and captivating stage presence earned them a well-deserved first runner-up position.
With victories across sporting events and cultural activities, Mapúa-PTC CMET made history by securing its inaugural Overall Championship. This achievement not only sets a new standard for future performances but also highlights the unwavering determination and versatile capabilities of its students and faculty across multiple disciplines.
This historic win marks a significant milestone for Mapúa-PTC CMET, solidifying its reputation as a leading entity within Mapúa MCL. It also reinforces the confidence and readiness of its students and faculty to face future challenges with the same dedication and excellence that defined their success during the recently concluded Foundation Week.
