PTC joins MPCF’s 40th Anniversary: Honoring the Past, Inspiring the Future

AUGUST 1, 2025

PTC, through its Talent Acquisition Group (PTC-TAG), was honored to take part in the 40th-anniversary celebration of Mariners Polytechnic Colleges Foundation (MPCF) in Legazpi, Albay, on July 29–30, 2025. The two-day event reflected on MPCF’s rich history while also strengthening its partnership with PTC, a shared commitment to shaping future maritime professionals.

Alumni Connect

The first day focused on reconnecting with MPCF alumni, with PTC as the exclusive maritime company invited to participate. Over 70 alumni, many now successful seafarers, attended the special gathering.

Ms. Benjie Bautista, PTC-TAG Manager, introduced The PTC Group’s evolution from a maritime-centric organization to a diverse enterprise offering careers by land, air, and sea. This was echoed by Antonio Reginaldo, PTC Recruitment and Training Department (RTD) Manager, who shared job openings and encouraged alumni to explore opportunities as part of PTC’s Global Maritime Professionals.

MPCF Career Fair

Day two opened with the MPCF Career Fair, where PTCI and Seaspan joined leading maritime companies to present career opportunities to more than 400 deck and engine cadets. The venue buzzed as cadets engaged in lively discussions, asking thoughtful questions. Many expressed strong interest in joining PTC and Seaspan, drawn by the promising futures these companies offer—a positive sign for the industry’s next generation.

PTC Masterclass

The PTC Masterclass Series brought together nearly 150 students from various programs, including BS Maritime Transportation, BS Maritime Engineering, Customs Administration, and Hotel and Tourism Management.

Hector Manuel Brizuela, PTC-TAG PEP Manager, opened the session with an insightful talk on the “Culture of Safety through Effective Communication.”

“Effective communication is the bedrock of safety, not just at sea but in all areas of life. This principle is crucial not only in maritime careers but also in any workplace. Regardless of the field, fostering a culture of open and clear communication is essential for maintaining safety and enhancing productivity,” he emphasized.

Andre Torribio, a former Fleet Manager and now Maritime Consultant for Seaspan, inspired students with his journey as a global maritime professional. “The sea is vast, and so are your possibilities,” he reminded them. His talk highlighted perseverance, adaptability, and continuous learning as essential traits, leaving students motivated to chase their aspirations.

Antonio Reginaldo concluded the session with a practical guide on standing out in job applications and interviews. His message on the importance of authenticity, preparation, and resilience resonated deeply. Students eagerly absorbed his tips, signaling their readiness to embark on their professional paths.

RISE Program for Safe Schools

Wrapping up the celebration was the RISE Program for Safe Schools – Citizen Training Program (RPSS-CTP), led by Brizuela and Josh Christian McCarver, PTC-TAG’s PEP Lead Program Officer. The training involved 50 student leaders from MPCF Legazpi and Canaman campuses, focusing on instilling responsibility, vigilance, and preparedness in ensuring school and community safety. The session provided key insights on Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR), equipping students with the skills needed to respond to potential risks effectively.

Ms. Merle San Pedro, MPCF President, expressed her gratitude to PTC, underscoring the value of collaboration in academic excellence. “We are very thankful for our major partner, PTC, for visiting us and traveling far from Manila to join in our celebration of our 40th founding anniversary. We are very fortunate to have such a dedicated partner who shares our vision of empowering the next generation of maritime professionals. Together, we will continue to strengthen our bond and work towards a future where our graduates are well-equipped to thrive in the global maritime industry.”
