Board members and key officials from the Ghana Maritime Authority visited PTC on October 10, 2024, as part of their mission to explore best practices in maritime education and training in the Philippines. Prior to their visit to PTC, the delegation held meetings with the Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA), the Department of Transportation (DOTr), and the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) to gain a deeper understanding of the country's maritime sector.
The delegation included Mrs. Margaret Campbell, Mrs. Susan Kwakye, Mrs. Felicity A. Sey, Mr. Eddy Akrong, Mr. Yaw A. Antwi, Mrs. Patience Diaba, and Mrs. Edith Korankye, each with expertise in maritime governance, law, logistics, and finance. Representatives from MARINA, including Katrina Marie G. Lapig, Timothy S. Vitan, and Jay-Ar Nuezca, were also in attendance.
The visit to PTC began with a tour of PHILCAMSAT, where the delegation was introduced to simulation technologies and training programs designed to promote the professional development of seafarers. The delegation was shown how PHILCAMSAT plays a vital role in the Philippines’ efforts to maintain high standards in maritime training.
Following the tour, the delegation met with PTC Group CEO Gerardo A. Borromeo, Capt. Ronald SJ Enrile, Senior Vice President of PTC Shipmanagement, and Capt. Pol Haboc, Head of PHILCAMSAT. Discussions focused on sharing insights gained from their visit to the country, as well as current trends and challenges faced by Ghana’s maritime sector. The Ghanaian officials also gained valuable insights into the Philippines' rich maritime heritage and its critical role in global trade, reinforcing the importance of establishing maritime ties between the two countries.
