PTC’s Livelihood Weaving Program: Empowering communities, one craft at a time

NOVEMBER 22, 2024

Launched in 2023, PTC’s Livelihood Weaving Program embodies a mission to empower the community of Minalin, Pampanga, through sustainable livelihoods and the celebration of locally sourced materials. This meaningful initiative carried out in partnership with ECTO Juan Consulting and the Local Government of Minalin, demonstrates PTC’s enduring commitment to community development and cultural preservation.

As part of the program, 10 members of the Minalin Weavers Women’s Association received comprehensive training to enhance their weaving skills. Backed by their local government, these women not only refined their craft but also gained access to new income streams and marketing opportunities. Their handcrafted products are now proudly purchased by PTC Holdings as corporate gifts, elevating their artistry to a wider audience.

Since its inception, PTC has supported the program by ordering 380 intricately woven tokens, presented to guests and partners as expressions of gratitude. To further empower the weavers, PTC invited them to participate in its 45th Pop-Up Market on February 24, 2024, where they directly sold their creations to PTC employees. This initiative offered the weavers hands-on entrepreneurial experience while fostering greater appreciation for their work.

As 2024 ends, PTC continues to champion the livelihood of the Minalin Weavers. This year, the company commissioned 700 handcrafted parols (traditional Filipino Christmas lanterns) made from balangot as its official Christmas tokens. These vibrant symbols of Filipino culture not only spread holiday cheer but also reinforce PTC’s dedication to uplifting local communities and supporting sustainable livelihoods.
