Josh McCarver of Project RISE elected as SecGen of NYDRRM Board

Congratulations to Josh McCarver, Program Officer of PTC Project RISE,
for being elected as the inaugural Secretary General for the Board of
Trustees of the National Youth for Disaster Risk Reduction and
Management (NYDRRM). The election was held during the 1st Philippine
Youth Disaster Preparedness Summit last July 31.

The NYDRRM is a voluntary, non-profit, first-of-its-kind national youth
organization that aims to engage the youth in Disaster Risk Reduction
and Management (DRRM) and to advocate the proactive participation of
youth leaders in policy-making, decision-making, and program
formulation of the DRRM Sector. Project RISE, implemented by PTC’s
Social Infrastructure Platform – Pipeline Engagement Program (SIP-PEP),
is dedicated to helping enhance the overall level of resiliency and
disaster response preparedness among communities in the Philippines.

Mr. McCarver, in his campaign presentation
and speech, highlighted his unique position as
a bridge between the public sector and
private institutions while working for Project
RISE and shared the key accomplishments the
project has achieved so far. He also proposed
the NYDRRM 10-Point Agenda, which will be
the National Board of Trustees’ set of
priorities moving forward.

He also proposed the battle cry “RISE to the Call, RISE to the Challenge!”
highlighting the increased need to answer and face the challenges
imposed by the DRRM Sector for the youth sector.
