Mapúa-PTC College of Maritime
Education and Training, a unique
academe industry linkage
between Malayan Colleges
Laguna and Philippine
Transmarine Carriers, Inc.
celebrates its annual College
Week, entitled “Bibong Marino:
CMET Week 2022” in a four-day
event from September 27 – 30,
2022. It was the first face-to-face
College Week since the pandemic
began in 2020.

To start the four-day celebration, the
aspiring cadets of CMET partake in the
opening parade entitled “Pasalubong: CMET
Week 2022”, in line with the Maritime and
Archipelagic Nation Awareness Month
(MANAMO) celebration last September 27,
2022 (Tuesday). It was then followed by a
‘CMET’ human formation of the cadets, and
the much-anticipated traditional activity
called ‘CMET Baptismal’, wherein the senior
cadets drench their junior comrades with
water on-site to recognize the cadets and
cadettes as official sailors.

It was a joyous event filled with various activities which aim to boost and develop
the students’ camaraderie. The celebration also aims to make a difference in the
community by providing help. Together with Asian Hospital and Medical Center,
a Mobile Blood Drive Donation was organized on the third day, September 29,
2022. The bloodletting was not only participated by the CMET Department but by
the whole MCL community as well. Overall, the celebration was a success, with
their last day ending with a Quiz Bee, Recognition Ceremony, and CMET Night
which the students will truly remember.
