As part of PTC’s commitment to raise the overall awareness and appreciation of the maritime industry, the company has introduced the PTC Sea Mariners program. This is a youth development community and school activity designed to promote marine conservation awareness and an appreciation of our country’s maritime heritage while instilling core values to students Grade 5 to 10.
Continuing the value chain of education, PTC has entered into a cooperative initiative with the Department of Education and ANGKLA, the Maritime Party of the Philippines, called Project Balanghay, to pilot a Maritime Senior High School program in connection with the government’s shift to the K-12 education system. The program nurtures technical skills and prepares students to immediately join the maritime industry as qualified ratings upon completion of their secondary education.
The Mapuá-PTC College of Maritime Education and Training (CMET) is a unique industry-academic linkage between PTC and the Malayan Colleges Laguna of the Mapuá Institute of Technology. CMET is proud to have earned the distinction of being the only maritime institution in Asia to have been fully accredited by a European country – Belgium – through its Belgian Maritime Inspectorate.
CMET offers Bachelor of Science degrees in Marine Transportation and Marine Engineering, founded on Mapúa’s tradition of excellence in Engineering, Math and Science. The programs at CMET rely heavily on Principal input in order to bring hands-on shipboard experience into the classroom.
