In celebration of National Blood Donor’s Month last July, the Malayan Colleges of Laguna (MCL) received a plaque of appreciation from the Asian Hospital and Medical Center (AHMC) for its generous support and commitment to AHMC’s life-saving program “Mobile Blood Donation.”

Spearheaded by the Mapua-PTC College of Maritime Education and Training (CMET), the blood donation drives have been organized for the past three years now as part of CMET’s college week.

The annual effort started in 2012 as an inaugural project of the Mapua-PTC CMET Alumni Association through the initiative of 2/O Dean Anthony Canson Jr., who served as CMET student council president during his college years and then as faculty member post-graduation. “Being in the maritime sector, we believe that blood is like water that needs to flow in order to sustain life. We have partnered with the Asian Hospital Bloodbank because we share the same paradigm and safe blood transfusion is our paramount concern,” he shared.
